It's difficult to pinpoint an act who embody the spirit of tasteful left-field experimentation more than Arcane Roots. Whilst at ArcTanGent we sat down with Jack Welch (drums) to chat about Melancholia Hymns, the Landslide EP, and upcoming electronic tour.

Hi mate, you've got two sets ahead of you today, how you feeling about it?

Jack: Very excited. We haven't played here for a couple of years but last time we...

Despite it being a rare occurrence, for reasons most obvious, there seems to be an element of tangible purity when an act or musician releases content after announcing the end of their respective career. No longer hindered or restrained by the subterranean forces of the industry, such acts can create art that truly represents them without having to consider how a release will impact their career, their prospects or future as a collective unit. As the masses furiously down coffee to subdue those ever-lethal end of festival hangovers, the Frenchmen in Jean Jean (7.5) take to the breezy air to provide the visceral soundtrack to everyone’s hungover extensional crisis. It's that time of the year again. The sun is beaming down, cans are being popped left right and center and it's clearly evident that we're within the midst of another fantastic festival season. With that in mind, we popped down to Upcote Farm for another amazing installment of the incredible 2000 Trees Festival, where that classic festival atmosphere was in full swing.

SHVPES (7.5), the hardcore five piece from Birmingham manage...

ArcTanGent, the festival that just keeps on giving. Despite announcing the likes of Leprous, Anathema and Toska only last month, the festival has also announced another 9 acts for the festival, as well as a very special additional set from one act already confirmed.

Joining the already stacked lineup today is Danish composer and recent Golden Gods winner Myrkur, experimental DIY duo Cassels and noise and math tinged grungers Soeur. Also...

Despite it only being approximately 5 months since their last UK headline run, the master alchemists of modern progressive rock within Arcane Roots are back. Whilst many were suspecting their 2017 sophomore record Melancholia Hymns to be a success, no one anticipated how strikingly lucrative the record would be. The record propelled them from curious scene favourites to colossal leaders of their respective genre, with Melancholia Hymns gracing al...
