Brighton math-poppers Orchards have had a bit of a hit and miss year thus far. On one hand they released an utter blinder of a debut with Lovecore, a full-length jam packed full of hooks, riffs and twinkly doodley alt-pop wonder. On the other, they’ve been completely unable to promote it, perform it or give it the live treatment it desperately wants. Nightmare.

However, the band haven’t just been sat at home wallowing like the rest of us. Today Or...

“Just because The 1975 are the biggest guitar band in the world, doesn’t mean that we have to go full fucking 80s,” laughed Rob Flynn, bassist and vocalist of The Winter Passing. Not that they have anything against The 1975, but The Winter Passing wanted their second album to be a true representation of them.

That album, called New Ways of Living, is a collection of deeply personal songs, and it’s one that we absolutely love. When starting the wr...

To say the new record from The Winter Passing is decent would be a tad of an understatement. New Ways Of Living, the second full length from the Irish emo-tinged indie quintet, is a masterfully crafted release that is filled to the brim with warmth, authenticity, charm, skill and killer hooks. We even gave it our first perfect score of the year. It's pretty good.

Yet what makes it so damn good is how it explores and expresses it's lyrical th...

New Ways of Living - the sophomore album from Irish indie/emo quintet The Winter Passing - is a wonderfully upbeat, versatile LP. It’s easy to envision these songs blaring through open car windows on a sunny road trip, or hearing the anthemic choruses being sung in a sweaty, crowded venue. There are also moments of contemplation on the record, with quieter tracks ‘I Want You’ and ‘Mind Yourself’, which encourage a moment to just listen quietly....

Jamie Lenman has returned with a fiery new single in the form of ‘The Future Is Dead’, out now via Big Scary Monsters. Featuring guest vocals from Illaman (Pengshui), ‘The Future Is Dead’ is the Leman’s first material since last year’s Shuffle and his first original work since 2018’s ‘Long Gone’, featuring Justine Jones of Employed To Serve.

Recorded and produced by Space (Idles, Black Futures) ‘The Future Is Dead’ was originally created during th...

Incorporating funky melodies with soft and bouncy riffs seems to come all too easily for Brighton based math poppers Orchards, with their debut album Lovecore offering nothing but feel-good vibes just in time for the Spring.

This release perpetuates the familiar groove found on previous EP Losers/Lovers from the off, with opening single ‘Sincerely Overwhelmed’ sounding optimistically erratic despite it's lyrical anxiety. Sporting a Vampire Weekend...
