Taken from the group’s upcoming record For Self Defence which releases this Friday via Human Worth, ‘One Day None Of Us Will Be Here’ sounds like rust made audible. It’s harsh, angular, sharp and probably very detrimental to one’s health if consumed in too large a quantity. But given the circumstances, it’s to be expected and even celebrated.
Sounding akin to a circular saw chewing though a patched denim jacket with a hide so crusty it resembles concrete, the track is a barrage of hardcore-orientated sludgy noise in the key of coming to terms with previous traumas for a better tomorrow amidst the end times. It’s absolutely brilliant, incredibly authentic and truly the sound of musicians who have spent real time grafting within the UK DIY noise scene; none too surprising given how Pascagoula boasts members of Charlottefield and Trencher in it’s collective lineup.
“For me the song is about past traumas/bad relationships and the scars they leave and how that affects and influences our present day lives”, states Ross Sargeant on the track. “It’s about trying to grow and break away from habitual modes of thinking that entrap us into repeating the same mistakes.”
