Since the release of their last album, Ire in 2015, it's been a bit quiet on the Parkway Drive front. Thankfully, the leaders of modern metalcore are back with their crushing new single 'Wishing Wells'.
Beginning with a sombre yet ominous acoustic intro, the track soon launches into an intense sonic assault, with frontman Winston McCall displaying terrific vocal range. It's a seething documentation on the subject of grief and loss, and potentially the heaviest and most candid material they've released thus far.
On the subject, McCall notes; “‘Wishing Wells’ is the compression of grief into song. It’s attempting to place blame when there is none, seeking answers where there is only emptiness, and ultimately trying to find some kind of reason and meaning to justify the ultimate loss we will all be faced with in life. This is how this chapter begins and will end.”
The group will be returning to Europe this Summer for a string of festival dates including a performance at this year's Download Festival. But for now, check out the video for 'Wishing Wells' below.
