November 21, 2018

It may be November, but Download Festival are already way ahead of the game, announcing another massive 23 acts for the 2019 edition of the much-loved summer-time event. Andy Copping and his crew have been working hard behind the scenes and are finally reeling out the second batch of bands to sink your teeth into.

The big ones everyone is talking about is metal titans Slayer, making their final UK appearance after 37 brilliant years. With such a monumental milestone in their career, everyone is bound to be in for an unforgettable, legendary performance; a true celebration for their final sweep at Donington.

Making their first ever appearance at Download will be grunge, alt-rock legends The Smashing Pumpkins. Following their stunning worldwide appearances on their 30th anniversary tour, the ageless quartet will surely pull off an unmissable debut.

Having inspired countless bands over the last 33 years, prog-metalers Dream Theater will be pulling in the crowds after a 10-year absence. Joining them will be modern metal heavyweights Lamb of God, complete with their legendary big riffs and even bigger mosh pits.

Taking a spot on the lineup for their second ever appearance at the festival, Eagles of Death Metal prepare to bring bucket loads of unique rock n’ roll. The thrashy addition of Maori-metal trio Alien Weaponry will prove to be in good company with metal powerhouse Anthrax, who has always given a performance for fans to remember.

Hotly-tipped rockers Badflower will be bringing their poignant, hot new single 'Ghost' in tow, alongside them will be Black Futures, who will be taking audiences on a colourful trip of a lifetime during their industrialised set. The wolfmen in Man With A Mission also will making their mark during the weekend, with rapid riffs and giant anthems and Detroit post-hardcore group I Prevail will be sure to get the audience into a frenzy during their set.

Paddy Considine will be making his appearance with Riding The Low, as will Southern rockers Blackberry Smoke to provide the weekend’s dose of country-infused good times. The Interrupters are also added to the growing lineup to add some energetic, punk-infused fun and Jinjer build up the list of powerful females making their appearances.

Added to the bill is genre builder nothing, nowhere., who has taken a unique approach to genre molding and is on a rise with a hybrid of honest lyrics and emo-rap vibes. Joining the line-up is suave, Swedish quartet Royal Republic, as well as deathcore machines Whitechapel, and rising Napalese metalers Underside.

Up-and-coming Aussies Yours Truly will be bringing their fiery, female-fronted prowess and pop-punk frontrunners State Champs get on board, fresh from release of brand new album Living Proof. Joining Reel Big Fish on the ska fun will be Zebrahead, who will surely be starting their own party during the weekend, complete with crowd-pleasing anthems.

Download Festival 2019 will see the masked greatness of Slipknot make a return, along with chart heavyweights Def Leppard and everyone’s favourite enigmatic progressive rockers Tool share the main stage across the weekend. Renowned as the UK’s home for all things rock music, next year’s Download takes place at Donington Park 14 – 16 June.
