In a time where venues are falling by the wayside and it is getting harder and harder in the rock scene to keep afloat it is all the more important to be a part of moments of unity and special events that showcase amazing upcoming talent.
Described as "A Cardiff based festival celebrating the power of young local and national music" Pwer Fest really does push the boat out in mashing bands/artists of different genres together as well as showcasing a fantastic mix of local and national talent.
Here are 5 reasons you really need to be at Pwer Festival:
There are some rising stars you may already know of... The final announcement of the festival came with its biggest announcement of the festival in the form of Vukovi. The pop rock duo are set to bring the energy, the melody and the groove in full force. They are also lined up to support the likes of Set It Off this year so make sure you catch these guys before they blow up like we know they will! Also announced are Soeur who are one of the most interesting bands ready to break at present. The trio are grungy and loud and pack a hell of a punch. BE sure not to miss out on them!
There are bands playing that you don't know you love yet... We have been raving about FORT since the release of double a-side single "It's To Dangerous To Go Alone... Take This!" and ""All That You Love Will Be Carried Away". The instrumental post rockers bring a soundscape like nothing you have heard come out of South Wales yet and will be sure to impress! Peaks are teetering on the edge of greatness too. Another South Wales band that are offering their fresh new take on Melodic Hardcore and even though we are at the start of their journey, now is definitely the time to be joining them on it.
It is a showcase of amazing local talent... Welsh rockers Chroma have taken the Welsh scene and blown it wide open. Their appeal crosses over between the Welsh music scene that is both hugely supportive of up and coming talent as well as the rock scene. Announced for Green Man Festival, nominated for a Cardiff Music Award and showing absolutely no sign of slowing down you do not want to miss these guys. Also added to the festival recently are the ever-ambitious Nightlives. Their latest single "Under The Radar" is both a fantastic song and a short film (Interest peaked? It should be). Huge riffs, electronics and a set that will no doubt be like setting off a firecracker in an enclosed space Nightlives are going to rock this.
This is more than your average rock festival... There is such an impressive range of genres at Pwer Fest. Take Rews who will be bringing their alt pop rock goodness all the way from London to Death and the Penguin who are stepping in having played the likes of ArcTanGent and bring a brilliant blended sound of avant-garde alt rock. All that and everything in between all on the same bill. There is something here for everyone that's for sure.
Ask yourself if you would be hitting up Clwb Ifor Bach anyway... There is every chance that you will end up in Clwb on your night out so why not just bring the fun forward and make an all-dayer out of it?
So if we have managed to convince you (Like you needed convincing) Pwer Festival will be held in Clwb Ifor Bach on Saturday the 4th May. Let's face it, how else would you spend your Saturday night...
