Top 10 Bands To Watch At 2000 Trees 2019 (Part One)

July 6, 2019

This time next week two things are certain; we're going to be watching some of the best talent belonging to the alternative scene and we're going to be a little bit inebriated. Whilst this year's 2000 Trees Festival is playing host to a lineup that's overflowing with phenomenal talent, we've handpicked our top selections for this year's event. Here's who you need to see at this year's best medium sized festival.

Cancer Bats

Canadian punks Cancer Bats have a unifying theme at each of their shows – enjoyment. We can almost guarantee that their set at 2000 Trees will have you grinning from ear to ear by the end. A band that’s been around the block a bit in their 15 years together, it’s wonderful to see them still having a blast on stage. Expect fan-favourites including ‘Hail Destroyer’ and ‘Bricks & Mortar’, and plenty of hectic pits.

FFO: The Bronx, Every Time I Die, The Ghost Of A Thousand

When, Where? The Cave, Friday

Pulled Apart by Horses

Another stand-out name on the festival’s poster is Pulled Apart by Horses. They’ve rubbed shoulders with the likes of Biffy Clyro and Muse in their early years and are renowned for some chaotic live performances. We’re sure their set at Trees will be no different, with them treating us to old favourites and, if we’re lucky, a new track or two.

FFO: Biffy Clyro, Dinosaur Pile Up, Arcane Roots

When, Where? Main Stage, Friday

Heavy Lungs

Heavy Lungs are fronted by Danny Nedelko (yes, the dude from that Idles song). With a sound similar to Shame or Life, these young rockers are sure to be a perfect fit for the Cotswolds festival. They’ve got two stellar EPs under their belt, and after a tour supporting Idles last year, we’ve got a feeling their set is one you’ll not want to miss.

FFO: Idles, USA Nails, Fontaines D.C

When Where? Neu Stage, Friday

JOHN

Another of Idles’ tour supports is the London duo, JOHN. A pair of blokes called John form this punk/noise pair, and they’ve been making quite the name for themselves in the last few months. Their second LP, Out Here on the Fringes will be released in October. Their latest single, ‘Future Thinker’ has been played on BBC 6 Music and will feature on their B-list next week.

FFO: Cassels, The St Pierre Snake Invasion, Crows

When, Where? Neu, Saturday

The Skints

We’ve got our fingers crossed that 2000 Trees 2019 will be another warm one and can imagine nothing better than sipping beer and watching The Skints. Their unique blend of reggae, ska, soul, and punk rock offers the perfect summer sound. They’ve recently released their fourth full-length album, Swimming Lessons, which draws on an eclectic range of influences. A hard working band who put on a great live show, The Skints will be one you’ll want to watch.

FFO: Skinny Lister, Imperial Leisure, Sonic Boom Six
