Returning for it’s third annual event, Portals Festival have confirmed the fist wave of bands set to play the festival next year. Taking place at The Dome, Boston Music Room and Aces & Eights on the 6th and 7th of June 2020, the London festival is set to host some of the best and most celebrated names within the contemporary math and post rock echelon.
Headlining the festival will be the dearly beloved French math-rockers Totorro. Silently dormant since their set at the inaugural edition of Portals in 2018, Totorro’s main stage headline set on Saturday 6th June is to be their only set within the UK in 2020. Those who caught their set in 2018 will know this will be a party unlike anything else and will certainly be a performance not to be missed.
Also confirmed are the Australian post-rock sensations We Lost The Sea, with their set at Portals next summer being their first ever show within the UK. A highly renowned name within the global post-rock scene, We Lost The Sea received plaudits on high following the release of their latest full length Triumph & Disaster. A masterclass in weaving emotive and crushing soundscapes, the release saw We Lost The Sea be heralded as the future of Austrian post-rock.
Portals have also confirmed they will be collaborating with Holy Roar Records on the Sunday of festival, with the label commandeering the Boston Music Rooms to showcase some of the finest talent under their namesake. Confirmed thus far for the Portals X Holy Roar stage are OHHMS, We Never Learned To Live, Boss Keloid and Modern Rituals, with more to be announced in the coming year.
Also confirmed for Portals 2020 are the fruity American math rock duo Standards, the highly celebrated and dynamic Alpha Male Tea Party, the orchestral 16-piece Human Pyramids, Scottish post-rock songbird Midas Fall, riff collective False Advertising, post-rock quintet Flies Are Spies From Hell, psychedelic dynamos Elevant and Bristolian math-grungers No Violet.
With 21 artists still set to be unveiled in the coming year, next years rendition of Portals is set to be the festival’s biggest and best event to date.
