The world’s premiere celebration of experimental, contemporary and left field music, ArcTanGent Festival have confirmed their second wave of artists set to grace this year’s festival. As anticipated, it’s an utter stormer of an announcement.
Joining the bill that’s currently topped by Opeth, Tesseract and This Will Destroy You are noise-punks Metz and no-wave pioneers Swans. In relation, ArcTanGent 2020 will also play host to UK exclusive sets from the long absent Oathbreaker and Maybeshewill as well as seeing the return of outsider grindcore legends The Locust.
“It’s been years since The Locust returned to the UK so we are tickled pink to play ArcTanGent,” says Bobby Bray of The Locust. “We’ve known for a while now that the world is fucked but before our species ends itself there are still epiphanies and solace to be had whilst the soundtrack to life on a fucked timeline continues.”
Also confirmed today are Norwegian prog heroes Leprous, Icelandic dreamers Agent Fresco, genre dynamos The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die and Wear Your Wounds, the side project of Jacob Bannon of Converge.
They will also be joined by fellow newcomers Car Bomb, A.A.Williams, Tides From Nebula, Jo Quail, The Samuel Jackson Five, PETBRICK, Herod, Teeth Of The Sea, The Hirsch Effekt, Bent Knee, Astrosaur, tortuganónima, Bolt Ruin and The Hyena Kill.
And it that wasn’t enough, Mutant-Thoughts, Coldbones, Skemer, Natalie Evans, Odradek, Heisa, The Mantis Opera, Last Hyena, Rainbow Slicer, Lack The Low, SEIMS, Elephant Tree, Kokomo, Thumpermonkey, TOTS, Bicurious, God Alone, Land Wars, MIËT, Vogons, Straight Girl, Ogives Big Band and Qariaq will also be descending upon the Bristolian countryside later in August. On the subject of today’s monster announcement, festival organiser James Scarlett has said “I’m so ridiculously excited about this announcement that it’s difficult to know where to start! I’m particularly hyped for Oathbreaker, The Locust and Maybeshewill, all of whom I thought might be gone for good. And we’ve also got Converge’s Jacob Banon back at Fernhill Farm with Wear Your Wounds plus the epic awesomeness of a 90 minute Swans Main Stage set will be incredible. I cannot wait! Word to the wise, we’re not increasing our capacity this year so tickets will sell out!”
