Grey Daze have just announced details of their upcoming album 'Amends'. For those of you who may not know Grey Daze are Chester Bennington's pre-Linkin Park band and it may not surprise you to hear that they are really really good. The full-length features newly-recorded music as well as re-mastered vocals from the band’s discography, and will be released on April via Loma Vista Recordings.
“As a teenager, when these recordings were done, he had this incredible raw and somewhat undeveloped voice that had an incredible tone. He had this ability to sing great rock melodies punctuated by that unmistakable guttural scream. Chester’s voice had a personality that made you a believer,” said Loma Vista Recordings founder and President Tom Whalley. “Listening to the new versions of these tracks, I think it represents everything that the band members and the family told me that Chester wanted to achieve with re-recording this body of work.”
The first taste of this new album came in the form of single 'What’s In The Eye' and the band have now unveiled another track via Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. The song is called 'Sickness' and there is a music video to accompany it and all!
Check out the video for 'Sickness' below:
The band originally announced their return quite a while back too! “Over the years we’d become more knowledgeable, more experienced, and had more resources, so we decided to pick a selection of songs from our previously released albums and re-record them the way they deserved to have been treated back in the ‘90s when we initially wrote and released them,” explained the band in an open letter posted to their social media channels in December. “By February 2017 we started recording and in June, Chester and Sean announced the reunion, with a live performance planned for that Fall. Unfortunately, as we all know, that never happened.”
The band have also released the tracklisting of 'Amends' which looks a little bit like this:
3. What’s In The Eye
4. The Syndrome
5. In Time
6. Just Like Heroine
8. Soul Song
9. Morei Sky
10. She Shines
11. Shouting Out
A few weeks back the band also dropped a mini documentary via Loudwire remembering the late Chester Bennington and giving an insight into the process behind taking his old demos and vocal recordings and laying music on top of them to create the album. The band also have some huge guest performances on tracks too which will likely be released in the coming weeks but we already know Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer from Korn, LP, Chris Traynor from Bush and Jamie Bennington (Chester's son) will feature.
