The live music industry might be in a bleak state right now and this year’s festival season is still a matter of question – but still – the award winning 2000 Trees Festival are clearly looking at the situation with much needed optimism. Today the festival have announced the final headliners for this year’s event along with another 16 fantastic bands. As expected, it’s an utter blinder of an announcement.
Headlining the main stage on Friday night will be none other than the horror rock pioneers AFI, with their headline set being their first UK appearance since their mammoth 2017 tour with Deftones.
Also confirmed today are Saturday’s headliners Thrice, who will be performing their career defining record Vheissu in honour of it’s 15th anniversary. Their set comes following last year’s massive co-headline tour with Refused.
Also joining the bill today are pop rock jumpstarts Against The Current, Trees house band Black Peaks, Japanese dynamos Crossfaith, punk legends Anti-Flag, left-felid math poppers Orchards, the perpetually pure Fresh and returning hero’s Lonely The Brave.

They will be joined by fellow newcomers The Chats, Royal Republic, Kneecap, Saint Agnes, Leeched, Chubby & The Gang, Beachtape and Gnarlah. These newcomers will be joining an already packed bill that’s currently topped by the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Creeper, The Amazons, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Knocked Loose, Nervus and a myriad of other brilliant bands.
The festival has also addressed the current Covid-19 pandemic in today’s announcement and has raised the possibility the festival may have to be moved to later in the year. You can read the official statement below.
“Clearly these are difficult times in the World and indeed, the festival industry and it would seem that uncertainty is everyone's new normal. However as it stands, we’re still super hopeful that 2000trees 2020 can go ahead in July as planned. Obviously we don’t have a crystal ball though, so we are looking into all possible options and should the ban on gatherings continue for the next few months, we may have to look at moving 2000trees to later in the year. But again, as it stands, we sincerely hope this won’t be necessary. As people can probably imagine, you don't just magic a festival out of thin air the week before, therefore we are continuing to work behind the scenes on 2000trees 2020. This way we can make sure that, when we get the green light, we have everything in place to host an amazing party for everyone. And for an amazing festival, you obviously need headliners!
"With that in mind, we’re very excited to let everyone know that when this has all passed, AFI and Thrice will be joining Jimmy Eat World as 2000trees headliners. Not only that, but we also have 16 more bands to get excited about.
"For now though, the most important thing we can all do is keep looking after ourselves and in turn others, take advice from the experts and support the most vulnerable in our communities. Big love to everyone.”
At the current time 2000 Trees 2020 will take place at Upcote Farm, Cheltenham, between the dates of 8th - 11th July. Tickets and further details are available here.
