Bristol’s own musical stalwart Non Canon – the solo project of Oxygen Thief's Barry Dolan - has just shared his new single and video for his latest singe ‘The Saying Of The Seers’, the latest single taken from his forthcoming sophomore record.
Whilst the track was originally written well over a year ago, it couldn’t be more applicable today. Featuring a mariachi sound that feels like something out of an abandoned New Orleans, ‘The Saying Of The Seers’ narrates isolation, the hollow routine of work and the impact it all has on ones mental health. Yet despite such themes, it’s a song of resilience, something listeners will comfort in during this trying time.
“‘The Saying of the Seers’ is a song about the long, slow winter routine” says Barry Dolan. “Of waking up before the sun rises, and trudging home after it has set. It's about how the days and nights blend into one as you stare at the calendar waiting for the clocks to change. It's about losing sight of the fact that it will, eventually, get better.”
Non Canon II, out May 15h via Xtra Mile Recordings, is Non Canon’s sophomore record and features a host of guest talent including Neil Elliott and Ben Whyntie, (previous members of Dolan’s other project Oxygen Thief), Pete Fraser (Down I Go), Jon Clayton (Hurtling, Chris T-T), Hannah Johns (The Leylines) and more.
Non Canon II is released May 15th via Xtra Mile Recordings. You can pre-order the record on CD, digitally or on eco-mix vinyl here.
