It’s literally the union nobody asked for but the one we’ve always needed. Today the hulking West Virginia hardcore yob Left Behind have dropped their latest tune ‘Waiting For The End’ alongside an Animal Crossing based video.
A b-side taken from their 2019 record No One Goes To Heaven, ‘Waiting For The End’ see’s the band document the highs and lows of life on the road through their hulking sludge infused hardcore alongside it’s respective video composed of Animal Crossing New Horizons gameplay clips sent in by fans. With plenty drawing parallels between Left Behind and artists such as Crowbar, Black Breath and Year Of The Knife, the band have been swiftly scaling the heights since signing to Pure Noise Records in 2018.
“It’s about loving playing music and being on tour with my band but missing that feeling when we first started touring eight years ago and everything was new to us.” states vocalist Zach Hatfield. “Like some of our very first tours were so loosely booked we’d be hopping on last minute shows because some of them cancelled and we’d just play whatever we could get on.”
“It’s also about missing out on things at home. I’ll be on tour for a month at a time for some of them and while I’m home I’m working most of the time. So I’m not going out as much and there’s tons of old places I used to go to closing down, new places opening up. Also friends and family having kids, getting married."
“So in less words the song is about missing out. Whether it’s missing the craziness of our older tours or missing out on things in my personal life because I’m gone it doesn’t matter. The feeling stays the same.”
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Left Behind have had to cancel their original UK tour with The Acacia Strain, Leeched and Mental Cruelty. You can watch the video for ‘Waiting For The End’ below and purchase No One Goes To Heaven Here.
