Sadly, like every other festival on our now plague blighted lands, 2000 Trees will not be taking place this year. However, this upcoming weekend will not be a silent one. Today the award winning festival have announced 2000 Screens, a digital festival featuring live sets from this year’s original headliners Jimmy Eat World, Thirce and a lot more.
Taking place on Facebook and Instagram between Thursday 9th and Saturday 11th July, 2000 Screens is set to encapsulate all the magic that makes Trees so fantastic. Confirmed to play live sets so far are Enter Shikari, Jimmy Eat World, Thrice, Jamie Lenman, Cancer Bats, Orchards, Haggard Cat, Holding Absence, Milk Teeth, Phoxjaw and tons more. On top of this, there will be interviews with bands and organisers, hosting from The Sappenin’ Podcast, a look back at the history of the festival and apparently a few hints of who’s set to appear next year.
“Obviously we’re gutted that there won’t be a 2000trees this summer, but I can promise you that this is the next best thing.” Says head organiser James Scarlett. “We’ve got loads of amazing exclusive content and I’m particularly excited by the live sets from Jimmy Eat World and Jamie Lenman. Honestly they have to be seen to be believed! There is also an interview between some of the organisers and Sappenin podcast – make sure you tune in for loads of reminiscing and never before told stories plus a couple of line up hints for 2021.”
Set times will be announced in due course. Today’s announcement follows on from the festival securing their future after smashing their crowd sourcing campaign and the confirmation of Jimmy Eat World as one of next year’s headliners. Other festivals have also taken the digital route of hosting events during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis lately, including Download Festival and Tech-Fest.
You can catch the full line-up of 2000 Screens Festival below and tune in on Facebook and Instagram this weekend. 2000 Trees Festival is set to return next year at it’s home of Upcote Farm, Cheltenham, between 8th – 10th July 2021. You can order tickets for next year’s event here.
