Bloodstock Festival announces Saturday night headliner and special guests for 2021!

August 11, 2020

With exactly one year until the gates open once again, Bloodstock Festival have confirmed their Saturday night headliner and special guests for next year’s five date festival. Get your corpse paint ready, it’s a big one.

Headlining the Ronnie James Dio main stage next year is the one and only Mercyful Fate. Reformed last year and fronted by the infamous King Diamond, the pioneering black metal icons where set to play their first shows in 20 years this summer before the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic. Next year will see the band return to the live stage and Bloodstock Festival 2021 will be the only place where you can catch them with their set being a UK exclusive performance. As King Diamond proclaims; “It is with sinister pleasure Mercyful Fate will finally bring the Devil himself to Bloodstock Summer ‘21.  We cannot wait and neither can he. It’s gonna be dark as Hell.”

The summer time black metal fun doesn’t end there though. Confirmed as special guests for Saturday night are the Norwegian symphonic black metal titans Dimmu Borgir. Previously confirmed for this year’s event before it’s cancellation, next year will see Dimmu Borgir return once again to Catton Park in a spectacularly sacrilegious fashion. The band are currently working on their eleventh studio record, which should with any luck, see the light of day before next year’s festival.

Both bands join an absolutely stacked bill that’s topped by the previously announced headliners of Devin Townsend and Judas Priest. Also confirmed so far are Skindred, Saxon, Paradise Lost, Bury Tomorrow, The Black Dahlia Murder, Jinjer, Sylosis, Gloryhammer, Svalbard, Conjurer, Cattle Decapitation, Dark Tranquillity and tons more fantastic talent from all across the metal spectrum.

Bloodstock Festival 2021 takes place at it’s usual home of Catton Farm, Derbyshire between the dates of 11th – 15th August. Next year will see the festival adding an additional day in celebration of the festival's 20th annivsary. Standard tickets and child tickets are already on sale now and limited day tickets are scheduled to go on sale on September 1st. Best be quick though, VIP and caravan tickets are already sold out and it’s looking likely that next year will be a particular busy one. Check the full line-up so far below.
