New Noizze: The 8 Must Listen Tracks Of The Week

June 12, 2021|NEWS

Been too busy out in the sun to check out the latest blackened sludge and emo powerpop? Here’s the 8 new singles released this week that you need to get on right now. Mot Milk – ‘I Just Want To Know What Happens When I’m Dead’ New EP, new single, new label; it’s all happening in the Hot Milk camp this week. Following on from the impressive statement of intent that was their 2019 record Are You Feeling Alive?, the emo-powerpop juggernauts are back with a seriously snaring new single ‘I Just Want To Know What Happens When I’m Dead’. The title track from their forthcoming new EP which is set for release September 10th on Music For Nations, the track one again showcases Hot Milk’s lust for life and urges listeners to take life by the horns before it’s too late. With every single release and body of songs released by the band thus far pushing them further up the ladder, this track is concrete proof that Hot Milk are destined to ascend to new heights before the end of this turbulent year. Mastiff – ‘Endless’ Some of the nastiest, most vicious and misanthropic noise ever committed to tape, Mastiff are not for the faint of heart. Combining blackened sludge, grindcore and powerviolence to create a bleak, chaotic atmosphere, their sound is violent and caustic, with little room for escape. Latest single ‘Endless’, taken from their upcoming third album Leave Me The Ashes Of The Earth, is sub-3 minute blast of aural violence and dread. Pummelling drumwork, cavernous, bile-inflected roars and frenzied, buzzsaw guitars all combine to form a bludgeoning without reprieve. The unrelenting, brutish aura can be deceptive, however as sparks of nuance and jarring experimentation, even adventurousness lurk behind their rumbling riffs and cathartic bellows. Delta Sleep – ‘The Detail’ Despite their respective namesake, Delta Sleep aren’t really a band known to rest. Following on from dropping their surprise Younger Years EP in 2019 and their acoustic live LP Soft Sounds in 2020, the math rock troupe are back with a new single and the confirmation of a new upcoming full length. Taken from the band’s forth record Spring Island – which releases September 10th via their own Sofa Boy Records – new single ‘The Detail’ continues to articulate the delicate warmth and tentative emotion showcased in their 2018 record Ghost City. Inclusive, embracing and expressed with intricacy, the new single is an emotive, infantilising glimmer of the new body of work from one of UK math rock’s finest. Knoll – ‘Gored Veil’ After solidifying their place within the annuals of grind with their utterly uncompromising debut Interstice back in February, Knoll are gearing up to scatter the dust their initial effort left in it’s wake with a second release. On June 18th the Memphis six-piece will be releasing a three track split EP with the fellow Tennessee unit Autolith and the new track ‘Gored Veil serves as the hellish first witness of it’s contents. A depiction of the human mind tearing away from unilateral thought, ‘Gored Veil’ is a nightmarish lobotomy of contemporary grind that’s harrowing in it’s tone and delivery. This is simply aural mental punishment enough to snap synapses and to render long term listeners immobile. Strange Bones – ‘Deathwish’ Hailing from the “Dystopian Disneyland sea-side town that time forgot” – the band’s words, not ours – Blackpool’s Strange Bones capture public mood with their new track ‘Deathwish’. The first taste of their forthcoming debut England’s Screaming, ‘Deathwish’ is issued as an apocalyptical anthem that explores what it’s like to endure life in the decaying society that we are currently experiencing. Showcasing the band’s perfectly retable sense of jadedness and social nihilism with sidewinding modern punk dynamics, distorted fretwork and assaultive sub-bass, this is a track for those plagued by the miasma of our rotting culture and one for anyone with a love for punk at it’s most dynamic. Wargasm – ‘Pyro Pyro’ London Nu-Punks Wargasm have released the B-Side to their last single ‘Your Patron Saints’. The new track, aptly titled ‘Pyro Pyro’ is an explosive burst of energy primed and set to get the mosh pit sweltering when the pair make their appearance at the Download Festival Pilot event next weekend. With a headline show booked in at the London Underworld before they’ve even released a debut album, they’re arguably one of the hottest upcoming bands in the UK right now, and ‘Pyro Pyro’ is gushing with the style and substance to match their rapidly accelerating upwards trajectory. Wargasm’s cyberpunk design remains present through the core of the song, painting a not so pretty picture of a factorial dystopian future amongst a ferocious barrage of industrial noise. Bellevue Days – ‘Buca’ In this perpetual state of purgatory it’s easy to look back on the events and times we once took for granted. Returning with a fresh lineup change, the new single from scrappy indie rockers Bellevue Days is a rose tinted ode to all those dreadful and horrible nights out that we all dearly miss. Brilliantly energetic and a full encapsulation of their indie DIY sound whilst giving a hint into the upcoming moves from the band, ‘Buca’ is straight and belligerent ode to loose energy that’s set to resonate with all that are missing the regret that comes with a subpar night on the drink. Wolves In The Throne Room – ‘Mountain Magick’ Well into their second decade of existence, Wolves In The Throne Room have spent their career crafting a rich, atmospheric, even ritualistic take on black metal. Latest single ‘Mountain Magick’, taken from their just-announced seventh album Primordial Arcana. Even a cursory listen to the single lets you know firmly whose territory you’re in; from the gentle ambience like the sounds of the forest that opens the song to the swirling guitars and shrieks, this could only be Wolves In The Throne Room. Evoking both wintery forests and the cosmic expanse of the night skies. With ‘Mountain Magick’, the band have announced their return in fine form and set the stage for their grandest ritual yet.
