Following on from the release of their fatally mesmeric debut The Live Long After, doom merchants Sugar Horse are sharing ‘Fat Dracula’ live from Bad Pond Festival 2021 and we are thrilled to premiere it.
Recorded during their main stage set at last year’s Bad Pond, Small Pond Records’ own annual festival in Brighton, as one can expect, the video is exactly what you can expect from a Sugar Horse performance; it’s oppressively intense, dangerously alluring and attended by people who are unsure whether to awkwardly bop around or slip into the fetal position and let the void beyond the veil retake them. You can watch it below.
“Here’s some video evidence of us playing Bad Pond 2021. A yearly gathering of artists run by our gracious overlords Small Pond Records”, states vocalist and guitarist Ashely Tubb. “After an unreasonably early start, an uncomfortably humid drive down and the unexpected sight of a biker festival happening right outside of the venue….the day turned out pretty fucking cool I must say! All the bands slayed and it forced us to get a bit of Vitamin D.”
The premiere of the video also comes shortly before Sugar Horse’s co-headline run with Manchester’s own The Hyena Kill. A five day stint up from Brighton up to Sheffield, the tour is set to see two of the most dynamic and genrephobic acts within the UK scene performing content from their debut records from last year, with the tour following on from the release of The Hyena Kill’s own emotionally harrowing debut A Disconnect. On top of this, both bands will be co-headlining a Portals alldayer at London’s Signature Brew on April 2nd, with the duo being joined by the likes of El Moono, Eat Your Own Head and many others.
“We feel so very lucky to be touring with one of the best bands in the country right now”, states Tubb. I really can’t wait to get to see them rip the roof off of various dingy rooms on the godforsaken isle.”
Band Pond Festival will also be returning later this year as well. Taking place on May 2nd at it’s normal home of Concorde 2 right on the Brighton seafront, the festival will be headlined by both Bossk and God Is An Astronaut, two of the best names in post metal. Also confirmed so far are Bob Vylan, Saint Agnes, Gender Roles, Witch Fever, CLT DRP, The St. Pierre Snake Invasion and Standards, with more set to be announced soon. Tickets and more information can be found here and check out the dates of the co-headliner tour below.
