The Bristol Bierkeller Has Shut Its Doors For The Final Time

February 8, 2018|NEWS

Last night it was announced that the legendary Bristol Bierkeller is to close effective immediately. Whilst many Bristol venues have been under the threat of closure in the past several years, this announcement has proven to surprise many due no prior warnings being given. According to a statement from the venue, the reason for the closure is due to the property owners wishing to redevelop the entire site and to remove the prospect of live music from the establishment. The 750-capacity venue is understood to be the one of the city’s oldest nightclubs and has hosted a plethora of distinguished acts over the years including Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, Soundgarden, Biffy Clyro, Tool, Stone Roses, The Menzingers, Pixies and countless more. On top of hosting live music and weekly club nights the venue has also been home to frequent theatrical and comedy events and has proved to be an invaluable asset to creative types all across the South West. At the current time it’s understood that all planned shows are in the process of being moved to other venues across the city but further announcements will be made in the coming days.
