May 26, 2021|NEWS

Festival Republic have confirmed that there is to be a Download this year! It’ll be a 3-day camping event as part of the government’s events trial, limited to 10,000 attendees. It’ll happen on the hallowed grounds of Donington Park themselves from 18-20 June; festival goers won’t be required to socially distance or wear masks – yes, moshing is back! – and testing will be required to allow entry. Line-up details will be announced Friday, with a pre-sale for Download 2022 ticket holders on June 1st and general sale for tickets due to open June 3rd. Tickets will cost £120 for the full 3 days. Testing requirements will be: proof of a negative lateral flow test for entry, as well as a PCR test taken before and after the event to help with gathering evidence. You’ll also need to provide details for NHS Test & Trace, just in case there is a positive test following the event. Melvin Benn of Festival Republic says “Following the huge success of our Sefton Park event, we are delighted to contribute to Phase II of the Government’s Events Research Programme with the creation of the first three-day camping festival which will be the Download Pilot at Donington Park. This massive next step will help us understand and study the safe return of large-scale festivals with no social distancing or facemasks over a full weekend… the return of the full festival experience we have all been waiting for and a much needed return to work for musicians, backstage crew, caterers and many more that form part of the UK’s exemplary live music industry.” As part of their Gold standard (Attitude Is Everything) accessibility and inclusion services, there will be dedicated accessibility camping and facilities.
